Thinking About Seniors and Justin

One hopes that it doesn’t get any worse to seniors!

[We need/deserve much more than Lip service]

They unveiled a new budget in Ottawa last week and as a senior, I cannot see Justin Trudeau or his caucus having any interest in seniors.  Perhaps that lack of interest is our own fault.

For the first time in Canadian history, there are now more seniors (those of us over 65 years old) than children under the age of 15.  That is a staggering statistic and is also much more than just another minority group.

The infrastructure in the form of transit, public institutions, education and so many other things in existence today are a direct product of the taxes we paid during our work careers.  In a word, this budget and the Lieberal party’s treatment of seniors has been down-right negligent.  Even worse, the little bit of assistance contained in the most recent Lieberal budget is simply trivializing and offensive.
